Thankfully, the new wingsuit makes going back down to earth simple and fun. Taking over enemy strongholds is a highlight, as is riding war elephants to attack said bases. The story is somewhat of a mixed bag withPagan Min stepping in as a Vaas clone. Even six years after its debut, it casts a long shadow over the entire franchise. The open world felt more alive and vibrant than before. Wildlife plays an important role, and can either help or hinder players. Despite some scripted elements during story-based missions, players had the freedom to approach objectives however they pleased.
The game introduced new features such as skill trees, experience points, crafting, and even first-person cover shooting. The main reason why Far Cry 3 is so highly regarded is due in large part to its main antagonist: Vaas.
Vaas seemed to know the player character, Jason Brody, even better than he did. Vaas set a high standard for all subsequent villains and none have managed to overtake him. This is also true for Far Cry 3 overall. During his off-hours, Tony enjoys reading comic books, playing video games, reading speculative fiction novels, and spending too much time on Twitter.
His work has appeared in publications such as Laptop Mag, PC Mag, and various independent gaming sites. Despite the many attempts to reinvent the wheel - no stone age pun intended - the whole experience is still very much Far Cry. Then a bunch of stuff catches on fire, your position is outed, the alarms get tripped, and in comes the cavalry. This Himalayan mountain region throws just about everything at you - and at your disposal. Grenade launchers. Bricks of C4. Honey badgers. There are snow-capped mountains, sprawling valleys, rivers full of bloodthirsty fish, and more.
Like several of the games on this list, Far Cry 4 is occasionally bogged down by drawn-out side quests and tedious drug trip adventures. But when it works, it really works well. Far Cry 6 returns to the wartorn tropical paradise setting this series does best, but brings with it some of the most significant new gameplay additions seen in Far Cry yet. The fictitious setting of Yara is absolutely massive and seemingly endless in how it doles out new quests, activities, weapons, and more for the player to mess around with.
Blood Dragon stars Terminator and Aliens actor Michale Biehn as a gruff, quippy cybernetic super soldier who descends upon a post-apocalyptic island where massive, deadly Blood Dragons roam the land and basically, all hell breaks loose.

A gorgeous, picturesque setting with tons of things to see, shoot, and blow up. However, it also has some of the worst games released to date. Though some praised the way motion controls were implemented in Ubisoft's classic FPS, the choppy visuals and long-persistent bugs removed any hope of an enjoyable Far Cry adaptation on Wii.
Almost universally panned, the title held the reputation of being a lazy port to Nintendo's new console and caused some genuine worry for players unsure of what the Wii could do.
Far Cry New Dawn failed to excite critics the way previous entries in the series had. This is mainly because the title shares a setting with Far Cry 5 , only some 17 years after a nuclear doomsday.
One might think that change would offer players boundless new opportunities in a familiar locale, not entirely. Despite a chance to radically alter the setting and gameplay to match this brave new direction, players were met with a lot of the same as they'd experienced in Far Cry 5 -- just with a fresh coat of post-apocalypse paint.
The title offered some fantastic multiplayer and map editing tools, but otherwise was still the same content players could experience on previous consoles. Without much to tantalize those who had played Instincts on Xbox, the title was only attractive for players with a new Xbox and no experience with Far Cry or those who thoroughly enjoyed map creation. Far Cry Primal set out to change the series's direction by taking players back to prehistoric times.
In the Stone Age, players will use primitive tools to slay fearsome beasts, traverse wild, boundless nature and learn how to survive when humanity is on the bottom of the food chain. The game managed to impress players and critics with its new setting, but operationally it was more of the same Far Cry experience players had grown exceedingly accustomed to.
While many critics voiced that they'd have preferred a proper sequel, the title was priced right for the smaller adventure, and the game served to entertain players while they waited for a new entry in the series.
