The Graduate Minor in Early Childhood Studies is designed to offer interdisciplinary graduate education by combining coursework and applied research opportunities focused on areas within the field of early childhood studies including health, mental health, early education and care, early intervention, policy and law, and family and community-based social supports.

The minor provides a unique opportunity for graduate students to interact with faculty across disciplines who have diverse academic backgrounds and areas of research and expertise.

This fully online certificate provides opportunities for students to enhance their knowledge of disabilities by deepening their understanding of implications of disabilities for professional practice. The focus is on how disabilities are perceived, ways people with disabilities are included, and legal aspects of disability policies within and beyond practices in education systems.

Our faculty regularly produce nationally recognized research to improve outcomes for and understanding of individuals with disabilities. Teachers already licensed in the state of Florida can earn the Autism Endorsement from the Florida Department of Education.

After finishing this program and earning the endorsement, you will enjoy increased marketability and new job opportunities. Demand for autism specialists continues to grow, and this specialization prepares our students for a variety of autism-related jobs. In the specialist and doctoral programs, you work with faculty advisors to identify an area of focus and tailor your program of study to support growth in that area.
