Be warned, though - the book available for download contains 41 chapters and it is not even close to being finished. Sadly, the story is on hiatus and only a few chapters have been added over the last six years.

The author has finished the first 3 books, and stalled on the 4th when he became sick a few years back. However, he is on the road to recovery and hope he is well and I'm hopeful he continues one of the best alternative fictions of the Harry Potter universe I've read so far. Edit: He's back and writing again! Here's to Matthew's continued health.
May 20, Charles rated it liked it. He's obviously intelligent and not a bad writer. There are a couple of key factors that have messed it up though. Firstly, I think he started writing this before Deathly Hallows came out, and secondly, he seems to have missed the heart of the Harry Potter series and his mentality is at odds with JK's entire philosophy. Then there's the structural issues, the struggles with independent voices, the fumbled grasp of a couple of the characters, the breakneck pacing, short length, incor Disappointing.

Plus it stops like in the middle of book four. Even unfinished this is better than the Methods of Rationality, but it has the potential to be more.
Oct 19, Felinfoel rated it it was amazing. The best fix-it time travel fanfic out there. Great characterisation of all involved. Ginny's character in particular is wonderful. A shame it's not finished, and by the looks of things never will be, these things happen. From what I've gathered the author has stuff going on which would cause him to focus on original work, which he can earn money from.

My elementary school teacher read us the first Harry Potter book as our reading time in class and I was immediately hooked. I was lucky enough to grow up with Harry, reading his books as they came out, growing up and learning in my own life just like Harry learned from his mistakes and school life.
Harry Potter and the Nightmares of Futures past has allowed me to relive my very fond memories of Harry Potter all over again. My hats off to you Matthew Schocke, for this amazing piece of writing.
